Firmer skin, refined pores and more defined contours do not always require surgery. At Mara Aesthetics Mallorca in Palma, Morpheus8™ offers a modern, minimally invasive treatment that combines microneedling with precisely delivered radiofrequency energy.

As fine needles penetrate controlled, predetermined layers of the skin, radiofrequency energy is delivered directly into the tissue. It creates precise thermal impulses that can stimulate the body’s own regenerative processes and support the formation and remodelling of collagen.

Morpheus8™ can be used on the face, neck and décolletage, as well as selected areas of the body. Following a personal examination, Dr Mariana Ostrerova determines the appropriate treatment depth, energy level and number of sessions. She considers not only the desired outcome, but also skin thickness, tissue structure, existing volume and the anatomical characteristics of the treatment area.

The treatment is particularly suitable for patients who wish to improve skin texture, address early skin laxity, or reduce the appearance of scars, enlarged pores and fine lines without undergoing surgery.

Dr Mara’s approach to Morpheus8™ treatment

Dr Mara’s approach to Morpheus8™ treatment

“To me, beauty is not about change, but harmony — bringing out the very best in each person.”
Morpheus8™ is not a standardised cosmetic programme that should be performed with identical settings for every person. Both effectiveness and safety depend greatly on which skin layer is treated, how much energy is used and whether the existing tissue is suitable for the intended treatment.
Dr Mara therefore looks beyond individual wrinkles or isolated areas of skin. She assesses the entire facial or body region and determines whether Morpheus8™ is medically and aesthetically appropriate. In cases of substantial excess skin, surgery may be the more suitable option. For superficial skin concerns, other non-surgical treatments may be sufficient.

About Dr Mara

What is Morpheus8™?

Morpheus8™ is a medical system for fractional radiofrequency microneedling. The technology combines two controlled stimuli in a single treatment step: mechanical stimulation from fine needles and the thermal effect of bipolar radiofrequency energy.

The needles penetrate the skin or underlying tissue to a preset depth. The energy is delivered only once they have reached that level. This allows the thermal impulse to be placed more precisely than with treatments that act solely from the surface of the skin.

Many small, separate thermal zones are created within the treated tissue. The surrounding tissue remains largely intact and supports the subsequent repair process. Over time, existing collagen fibres may be remodelled and new tissue structures may form.

Morpheus8™ is therefore used for more than individual wrinkles. The procedure can also improve skin firmness, texture and evenness.

What is Morpheus8™?

How does Morpheus8™ work?

Radiofrequency energy generates controlled heat at the tips of the inserted needles. Depending on the selected depth, the impulse reaches the superficial skin layers, the deeper dermis or selected subdermal tissue.
The heat can contract existing collagen structures and trigger the body’s own repair processes. During the following weeks, the tissue begins to reorganise. As a result, the skin may appear firmer, smoother and more even.
The procedure differs significantly from a purely superficial treatment. Dr Mara can adapt the treatment depth and intensity to the specific area. The thin skin around the eyes, for example, requires a different approach from the skin of the neck, abdomen or thighs.
Particularly on the face, the amount of existing subcutaneous fat must also be considered. Treatment that is too deep or too intense may cause unwanted volume loss in unsuitable patients. The aim is therefore not to use the maximum possible energy, but to deliver an anatomically appropriate and precise dose.

How does Morpheus8™ differ from traditional microneedling?

With traditional microneedling fine needles create controlled microchannels in the skin. This mechanical stimulation activates the natural wound-healing response and can improve skin texture.
Morpheus8™ adds radiofrequency energy to this mechanical stimulus. The heat is not generated solely at the skin surface, but delivered directly at a defined tissue depth. This also allows deeper collagen structures and connective tissue to be reached.
The procedures therefore have similar fundamental aims, but differ in intensity and reach. Traditional microneedling may be sufficient for superficial skin concerns and general skin revitalisation. Morpheus8™ may be considered when stronger tissue stimulation or tightening is also desired.
The most suitable method can only be determined after examining the skin.

What are Morpheus8™ Burst and Burst Deep?

Burst technology enables radiofrequency energy to be delivered at several predefined tissue depths during a single pulse. The tissue therefore does not need to be treated again separately for each depth.
Different tips allow Dr Mara to adapt the treatment to small, sensitive or larger body areas. The Morpheus8™ Prime tip enables particularly precise treatment of smaller facial areas, while larger tips are suitable for broader treatment zones.
Morpheus8™ Burst Deep was developed for deeper tissue structures and larger treatment areas. The tip has a broader needle surface and can deliver energy at several levels. This may be appropriate for selected body treatments or deeper tissue.
Not every patient requires deep treatment. The choice of tip and treatment depth is based on the actual clinical findings, rather than simply on a desire for the most intensive possible treatment.

Which skin concerns can Morpheus8™ treat?

Morpheus8™ can be used for a range of changes in skin texture. It is particularly suitable for early to moderate skin laxity and for skin that has lost firmness, density or evenness.

Potential treatment indications include:

  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • early facial skin laxity
  • reduced definition along the lower jaw and chin
  • enlarged pores
  • uneven skin texture
  • certain acne scars and other depressed scars
  • mild skin laxity on the neck and décolletage
  • stretch marks
  • selected areas with uneven tissue texture
  • loose skin on the abdomen, arms, legs or knees

Morpheus8™ cannot remove pronounced excess skin. In cases of significantly sagging skin, deep wrinkles or larger amounts of excess tissue, a surgical lift may provide a clearer and more predictable result.

Morpheus8™ for the face and jawline

On the face, Morpheus8™ can treat different layers of the skin. Common areas include the cheeks, lower face, chin, jawline and temples. The aim is not to alter facial features, but to refine existing contours and improve skin quality.

Along the jawline, treatment may be used for early tissue laxity. The skin over the lower jaw is not simply heated superficially. Needle depth and energy are selected so that the relevant tissue layers are reached in a controlled manner.

Dr Mara takes a particularly conservative approach in slim faces or where volume loss is already present. Treating deeper fat layers is often inappropriate in these cases. Instead, the focus may be placed on the dermis and improving skin quality.

Morpheus8™ cannot replace a facelift where pronounced jowls or substantial excess tissue are present. Dr Mara explains openly what can realistically be achieved with a minimally invasive treatment.

Morpheus8™ around the eyes

The skin around the eyes is very thin and sensitive. Treatment should therefore only be performed after a thorough examination and with specifically adjusted depth and energy settings.

In selected patients, Morpheus8™ may be considered for fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes or mildly lax skin. Periocular treatments require appropriate eye protection and particular experience with the anatomy of this region.

More pronounced hooded eyelids, prominent under-eye bags or substantial excess skin cannot be reliably corrected with radiofrequency treatment. In these cases, upper- or lower-eyelid surgery may be the more appropriate medical option.

Morpheus8™ for the neck and décolletage

The skin of the neck is thinner than in many areas of the face and contains fewer sebaceous glands. It is also often exposed to the sun for many years. This can result in horizontal neck lines, uneven texture, irregular pigmentation and reduced firmness.
With Morpheus8™, treatment depth and energy can be adapted to the thinner skin of the neck. The aim is controlled stimulation of the dermis without placing unnecessary stress on the sensitive anatomical structures of the neck.

The décolletage can also be treated for fine vertical lines, sun-related skin ageing and uneven texture. Because this area can be prone to pigmentation changes, careful skin assessment, adjusted energy settings and consistent sun protection are essential.
Results develop gradually. In cases of more pronounced sun damage, Dr Mara may assess whether combining Morpheus8™ with another skin-improving treatment would be beneficial.

Morpheus8™ for the abdomen, arms, legs and other body areas

Morpheus8™ is not limited to the face. Special tips can also be used to treat larger body areas. Suitable areas may include the abdomen, upper arms, thighs, knees and buttocks.

Treatment may be considered for mild to moderate skin laxity, following weight changes or for uneven tissue texture. Certain stretch marks and scars may also be treated.

Body treatments may involve deeper tissue layers than facial treatments. Morpheus8™ Burst Deep enables multi-level energy delivery across a larger treatment area. Dr Mara selects the depth according to the existing thickness of the skin and fatty tissue.

Pronounced excess skin after pregnancy or major weight loss cannot be fully corrected with Morpheus8™ alone. In such cases, a tummy tuck, arm lift or thigh lift may be the more suitable procedure.

Morpheus8™ for acne scars and enlarged pores

Acne scars vary in shape and depth, and not every scar responds in the same way to a single treatment method. Before treatment, Dr Mara assesses whether the scars are shallow, depressed, sharply defined or fibrotic.

By combining microneedling with controlled radiofrequency energy, Morpheus8™ can support tissue renewal in and around depressed scars. At the same time, overall skin texture may become more refined. Enlarged pores often appear less noticeable when the surrounding skin becomes denser and more even.

Deep scars may require a combination of treatments. The choice depends on scar type, skin tone, previous treatments and the individual healing response.

Who is Morpheus8™ suitable for?

The treatment is suitable for women and men seeking a visible improvement in skin quality and firmness who do not currently want or need surgery.

Suitable candidates often have:

  • early or moderate skin laxity
  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • enlarged pores
  • uneven skin texture
  • certain acne scars
  • mild contour changes around the chin or jawline
  • lax skin on the neck or décolletage
  • mild tissue changes on the body

Age alone does not determine suitability. Skin condition, tissue thickness, healing capacity and the desired outcome are more important.

Morpheus8™ is not suitable for everyone. Active skin infections, open wounds, certain medical implants, impaired wound healing or other medical conditions may contraindicate treatment or make postponement necessary. Treatment is also generally not performed during pregnancy.

Dr Mara reviews your medical history in advance and then determines whether Morpheus8™ can be used safely.

Your treatment journey

The Morpheus8™ treatment procedure with Dr Mara

From the personal examination to aftercare, every stage is individually planned and medically supervised.

01

Personal examination and consultation

Before treatment, Dr Mara examines the skin and the underlying tissue. She discusses which areas should be treated and what outcome can realistically be achieved.

The consultation also establishes whether Morpheus8™ alone is sufficient or whether another method would offer better prospects. Existing medical conditions, medications, previous aesthetic treatments and implants are taken into account when planning treatment.

02

Documentation and treatment planning

The treatment area is documented and defined precisely. Dr Mara plans the appropriate needle depth, energy level, number of passes and treatment tip.

The face, neck, décolletage and body are not treated with identical parameters. Even within the face, different zones may require different settings.

03

Skin preparation

The skin is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected. Depending on treatment intensity, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand. Additional pain-management options may be discussed for sensitive or extensive treatment areas.

04

Morpheus8™ treatment

The treatment handpiece is placed carefully against the skin. The needles penetrate to the predetermined depth and deliver radiofrequency energy directly into the target tissue.

During treatment, you may feel warmth, pressure and brief pinpoint impulses. The intensity is continually adjusted to the response of the skin and the area being treated.

Treatment duration:

Usually approximately 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area and technique.
05

Soothing care and aftercare

After treatment, the skin is cleansed and treated with suitable products. Dr Mara explains which reactions are normal during the following days and which skincare products may be used.

Individually tailored:

Every stage of treatment is adapted to your skin, the treatment area and the desired result.

How many Morpheus8™ sessions are needed?

Before-and-after result: Morpheus8™ as an adjunct to liposuction

The number of treatments depends on the condition of the skin, the area being treated and the desired change. Usually, 3 to 4 sessions at intervals of approximately 4 to 6 weeks are recommended.
Fewer sessions may be sufficient for a mild improvement in texture. More pronounced scars, significant sun damage or larger body areas may require a more extensive treatment course.
A single session can already initiate changes, but the final result cannot be assessed immediately after treatment. The formation and reorganisation of collagen take time.
After the treatment course, Dr Mara reviews the result. Whether and when a maintenance treatment is appropriate depends on the ongoing ageing process, sun exposure, lifestyle and individual skin response.

When are Morpheus8™ results visible?

Immediately after treatment, temporary swelling may initially make the skin appear firmer. This should not be confused with the eventual result.
Initial structural changes may become visible after approximately two to four weeks. The skin often becomes progressively smoother, denser and more even. Regeneration and remodelling may continue for several months.
Results do not develop at the same rate for everyone. Age, skin thickness, the initial condition, metabolism, sun damage and treatment intensity all influence the course of improvement.
Morpheus8™ does not stop the natural ageing process. The treatment can improve existing structures while the skin and tissue continue to change over time.

Downtime after treatment

Morpheus8™ is minimally invasive, but it still creates controlled micro-injuries and thermal impulses in the tissue. A completely reaction-free period immediately after treatment should therefore not be expected.

Typical temporary reactions include:

  • redness
  • mild to moderate swelling
  • a sensation of warmth
  • tenderness
  • small pinpoint crusts
  • dry or rough skin
  • temporary flaking

How long these reactions remain visible depends on the treatment intensity and area. Skin may settle more quickly after a superficial treatment than after a deep body treatment.

Allow sufficient recovery time before important social or professional commitments. Once the treatment plan has been established, Dr Mara will give you a realistic estimate of the expected recovery period.

Aftercare following Morpheus8™

Appropriate care protects the irritated skin barrier and reduces the risk of pigmentation changes and inflammation.

During the first few days, cleanse and care for the skin only with products recommended by Dr Mara. Avoid rubbing, exfoliants, retinoids, acids and other aggressive active ingredients initially. Make-up should only be applied once the skin surface has closed sufficiently and settled.

Consistent sun protection is particularly important in Mallorca. Use a high sun protection factor and avoid direct, intense sunlight. Tanning beds, saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools and strenuous exercise that causes heavy sweating may also be unsuitable during the initial healing phase.

Do not pick at small crusts; they will detach naturally. Please contact the clinic if you experience unusually severe pain, blistering, increasing redness, discharge, fever or any other concerning changes.

Risks and possible side effects of Morpheus8™

Radiofrequency microneedling is a medical treatment. If performed incorrectly, with unsuitable settings or in unfavourable circumstances, the controlled combination of needles and heat can lead to complications.

In addition to the usual temporary skin reactions, possible complications include:

  • prolonged redness or swelling
  • bruising and minor bleeding
  • pigmentation changes
  • infection
  • delayed wound healing
  • prolonged altered sensation
  • scarring
  • burns
  • unwanted loss of fatty tissue
  • damage to nerves or deeper structures

Serious complications are not part of the normal course of treatment, but they must be included in honest medical counselling and informed consent.

Treatment of the face in particular requires detailed anatomical knowledge. Energy should not automatically be set as deep or as high as possible. Dr Mara adapts the parameters to the existing tissue and the desired effect. In slim faces or where volume has already been reduced, she may advise against deep treatment.

Costs and treatment planning

How much does Morpheus8™ cost in Mallorca?

The individual cost depends on the treatment extent, the selected technique and the medically appropriate treatment plan.

These factors influence the treatment cost
01
Size and number of treatment areas

Frequently asked questions about Morpheus8™

A topical anaesthetic cream is usually applied before treatment. During the procedure, you may feel warmth, pressure and brief pinpoint impulses. Sensitivity varies according to the body area and treatment depth.

No. Morpheus8™ does not use laser light. The system combines fine needles with bipolar radiofrequency energy delivered directly at a defined tissue depth.

Morpheus8™ includes a microneedling component and adds radiofrequency energy. This allows deeper tissue layers to be heated more selectively than with traditional microneedling.

For early to moderate skin laxity, Morpheus8™ can improve skin texture and contours. It cannot fully remove pronounced excess skin or tissue. In such cases, a facelift may provide a stronger and more predictable result.

Yes, Morpheus8™  can also be performed during the summer, but particularly consistent sun protection is required. Direct, intense sun exposure must be avoided during the healing phase. It may be advisable to postpone treatment if the skin is tanned, irritated or sunburnt.

Make-up should only be used once the skin surface has closed and settled sufficiently. Depending on treatment intensity, this may be after a few days. Follow the personalised aftercare instructions provided by Dr Mara.

The duration of the result varies. The ageing process, UV exposure, lifestyle, skin condition and treatment intensity all affect how results develop. Maintenance treatments may be appropriate following a new assessment.

At an appropriate depth, radiofrequency energy can also affect subdermal fatty tissue. This may be intentional in selected areas, for example in certain contouring treatments. In a slim face, however, volume loss would be undesirable. Dr Mara therefore adapts treatment to the individual anatomy.

Combination treatment may be possible, but the timing and sequence must be planned carefully. Existing fillers, their location and the timing of previous treatments are considered in advance. Dr Mara determines the required interval between procedures.

Certain depressed acne scars can improve through tissue stimulation. Deep or fibrotic scars may require a combination of several methods. Complete removal of scars cannot be guaranteed.

Usually, 3 to 4 sessions are planned at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks. The exact number depends on the condition of the skin, the area and the desired result.

Please contact the clinic if pain increases rather than subsides, or if you develop blisters, severe swelling, purulent discharge, fever, pronounced pigmentation changes or unusual sensory disturbances.
